If you think you’ve seen it all in the world of Bridal Fashion, think again! With tons of inspiration from the NYC runways for Fall 2016, we saw jaw-dropping trends featuring minimal straps to more romantic 3D floral appliqués and fully sheer silhouettes – all eliciting ‘oohs and ahs’ from even the most seasoned fashionistas. Here’s your front row seat to some of our favorite trends:
Layers played an important role in fall 2016 bridal collections. Whether it was frilly capelet details or this asymmetrical tiered skirt at Ines Di Santo, creating dimension, volume, and optical illusions with dress shapes was key to the season’s designs.
Another enchanting feature was texture. 3D floral appliques popped up on the runways yet again, taking a more ethereal turn with delicate organza appliqués – all in full bloom on gowns at Inbal Dror, Naeem Khan and Reem Acra.
The illusion of seeing — and not seeing — made for an extra sensual lineup of new gowns this season. Whether it was the seductive, fully sheer silhouettes at Alon Livne White, or the illusion cutouts at Christos, not seeing was the talk of the town! As if that wasn’t enough to make us blush, lingerie-inspired looks were unveiled - revealing silky, barely there slip gowns and the most delicate laces gracing the runways.
Modern & minimalist styles were also a hit. These sheaths and structural capes were certainly understated, however, the drama they inspired made them anything but simple. This jaw dropping, shoulder to floor cape from Pronovias, extended to an impressive train, and while modest in coverage, screamed modern sophistication with every sway of the hip.
In a world full of ‘throwbacks’ where the demand for vintage is at a premium, we can't forget timeless influences from some of the most revolutionary decades in fashion. Spaghetti straps proved to be, well, the strap of choice, leading this seasons' slew of new design straight back to the 90s! And lets not forget all those fluttery sleeves and draped silhouettes, reminiscent of the 1930s, making their mark as well.
