5 Tips on Hiring Your Wedding Photographer

By Alain Martinez

One of the most important steps to planning your wedding is hiring the team that is going to capture it through a lens. Properly doing research on the photographer that will be there the day of your wedding is what is going to insure your memories are photographed beautifully in a way you’ll look back and remember forever.

Research
Wedding photographers are not created equal. The biggest mistake couples make is not researching different styles of work. Learn who it is you are thinking of hiring. Read reviews and testimonials online, ask people who have worked with the photographer before about their experience

Style
There are a million different ways to take a photo, finding the photographer that will capture it in the way that reflects your preferred style is your goal. Are you more of a traditional bride? Edgy? Boho Chic? Finding the photographer that can mold their work into any style would be the best advice we can give. Taking the traditional route is fine, however, a photographer who can add a little edge to that photo by changing the pose or angle is what is going to make your photo timeless. At the end of the day, your wedding album should be an heirloom you should be proud to pass on to future generations.

Fly Them To Your Destination.

The fact that your dream photographer is based 1,000 miles away should not be an issue. A plane ticket and a hotel room are far below the value of getting the creative and professional photos you imagine. Is your wedding out of the country? Most destination wedding venues will offer you their photographer. However very often the couple is disappointed with the level of creativity offered by onsite-photographers. If creativity and timeless photos is what you desire then bring with you the creative professional you feel will do the job in the best possible way.

Tell Them About Your Special Day

Give as many details as possible when inquiring. Photographers love to hear about special details and fun aspects of the day. Inspire your photographer with the small details. What style of dress are you wearing? Is there a first look? What will your decor be like? Photographers are there to capture your big moments as well as the small stuff. Connect with your photographer and don’t seek a cold quote. Get information about your event and tailored for you only.

These are just a few tips to keep in mind. The most important thing to keep in mind is once the wedding is over and your guests have all left, the only thing you'll have with you for the rest of your life are the memories of your beautiful and unforgettable day.
